Missing Northwestern student found safe in Chicago

Gabriel Corona | Evanston police

Northwestern University student Gabriel “Gabe” Corona has been found safe in Chicago four days after he was reported missing, according to Evanston police.

Corona, 24, had last been seen about 1:30 p.m. Tuesday on a surveillance camera at the Washington-Wabash CTA station, according to statements from Northwestern University Police Chief Bruce Lewis and Evanston police spokesman Ryan Glew.

Corona was found in Chicago on Saturday afternoon and was in good physical condition, authorities said. His family has been notified and he was receiving appropriate follow up and care.

Corona had not been the victim of any crimes, police said.

“I can’t tell you how happy and relieved we are that Gabe has been found safely,” Lewis said. “We are extraordinarily grateful to Evanston and Chicago police for their hard work and collaboration in this investigation.”

Corona’s roommate reported him missing after he didn’t return to their home Tuesday, Glew said. Corona did not take his cellphone when he left his apartment, and it was previously reported family and friends had not heard from him.
