Missing Newtownabbey man Jim Stewart found safe by member of the commuinty

Police have thanked the public for their help in locating a missing pensioner.

Jim Stewart, 77, from the Doagh Road area of Newtownabbey, was last seen on Monkstown Avenue around 5.30pm this evening, April 23.

After PSNI Antrim and Newtownabbey issued an appeal for help finding him on Facebook, Jim was located by a member of the local community.

A PSNI spokesperson said: "I am delighted to say that Jim Stewart has been located by an eagle eyed member of our community who picked up on the facebook post and contacted Police.

"He is currently being reunited with family. On our behalf, and particularly the family, thank you. You know who you are.

"What a fantastic example of the power of social media."
