Missing New Cumnock boy Carson Shephard: Public joins desperate search to find seven-year-old

The desperate overnight search to trace a missing seven-year-old boy has been joined by worried locals as well as police dogs, helicopters and boats.

Carson Shephard was reported missing last night from New Cumnock in Ayshire.

He was last seen in the Afton Bridgend area of the village at around 7.20pm on Sunday, 19 September, 2021, prompting an urgent appeal.

Officers have urged members of the public to check their gardens, sheds and garages in the search. Meanwhile, the police helicopter, marine and dog units, and Scottish Fire and Rescue Service water support unit are all involved in looking for the child.

Police Scotland released a statement in a bid to find Carson last night, with thousands sharing the appeal.

It reads: "Police in Ayrshire are appealing for the public's assistance in tracing 7-year-old Carson Shephard who has been reported missing from New Cumnock.

Carson was last seen in the Afton Bridgend area of the village at around 7.20pm on Sunday, 19 September, 2021.

Carson is around 3ft 6in tall, has short dark brown hair, and is of slim build.

He was last known to be wearing dark blue jeans, a t-shirt and a black top.

Police Scotland, as well as partner agencies, have made use of a range of resources since Carson was reported missing, including the police helicopter, marine and dog units, and Scottish Fire & Rescue Service water support unit.

The local community has also been providing assistance to officers in the area.

Anyone who has any information or may have seen Carson, or know of his whereabouts, is asked to call Police Scotland on 101, or 999 in an emergency situation, quoting incident number 3162 of Sunday, 19 September, 2021."
