Missing mum and toddler murder accused makes second court appearance over deaths

An app designer accused of murdering a missing mum and her toddler daughter in his Scots home made his second court appearance on Tuesday.

Andrew Innes, 50, is accused of bludgeoning mother-of-two Bennylyn Burke, 25, to death with a hammer at his home in Dundee.

Prosecutors also claim he also murdered her daughter Jellica Burke, two, within his home sometime over a 17-day period - by unknown means.

Innes made his first court appearance in connection with the two murder charges last week.

And he made his second court appearance in the case at Dundee Sheriff Court on Tuesday afternoon.

He made no plea to the two charges against him during the private hearing where he was fully committed for trial and remanded in custody.

No future court dates have been set.

The software engineer is accused of committing both murders within his home in Troon Avenue, Dundee, between February 17 and March 5 this year.

It come after missing persons inquiry was launched when Ms Burke and her children were reported missing from their home in Bristol.

Ms Burke, who is thought to have been born in the Philippines, was reported missing on March 1.
