Missing mum and son make contact with Spanish authorities

A missing mother and her two-year-old son have made contact with the Spanish authorities, police have said.

An international search was launched last week to trace Zivile Jokubonyte, from Bridgwater, in Somerset, and her son Saliamonas, after they vanished at the end of August.

Avon and Somerset Police said on Thursday that Spanish authorities had been in touch with the 29-year-old mum.

The police statement said: "We’re pleased to confirm that Spanish authorities have been in contact with Zivile Jokubonyte, 29, reported missing from Bridgwater along with her two-year-old son.

"We’d like to thank everyone who got in touch with information or shared the appeal to trace her."

The pair caught a flight from Bristol Airport to Valencia in Spain on Monday, August 31.
