Missing monkey spotted at Cambuslang train station reunited with family

While things can occasionally get wild – and even a little hairy – at Lanarkshire train stations on Saturday evenings, what occurred in Cambuslang last night was quite simply bananas.

For a tiny monkey was spotted roaming around the platform and eating from a tin of fruit.

ScotRail shared the discovery of the cheeky monkey, and asked if anyone was missing their furry friend.

The rail operator tweeted: "I've dealt with lost phones, handbags and glasses over the years but this is definitely a first! If you've lost your monkey... it's waiting on the next service from Cambuslang into the town."

They also shared some cute photos of the wee fella at the station - one of him perched on a railing and the other tucking into a can of fruit.

Luckily, the monkey didn't have to stay at the station for too long and has now been reunited with his family.

ScotRail confirmed: "UPDATE: It's good news people. This wee fella has been reunited with his family! Here he is one last time eating a tin of fruit. Canny believe he had a tin opener!"

We love a happy ending and we hope he's relaxing after his big adventure!
