Missing men emerge from remote Arnhem Land

Three men who went missing for three days in a remote crocodile-infested area of Arnhem Land have been found safe and well.

The men made their own way back to their community overnight, Northern Territory police said on Saturday.

"The trio all appear to be in good health and have not suffered any injuries," a spokesman said.

A large-scale search and rescue operation was launched after the men disappeared on Wednesday after getting out of a car at Dreaming Lady Crossing about 500km east of Darwin.

Two of the men are aged 21 and one is 40.

Earlier, two other men who were initially travelling with the three men were found by local paramedics and family members halfway between the communities of Gunbalanya and Maningrida.

Arnhem Land is a vast wilderness area in the northeast corner of the NT.

Permits are required for non-residents to travel into the area.
