An elderly couple who went missing while hiking have been found shot dead.
Lee and Stella Vigil bodies were discovered at around 12.30am on Saturday.
The couple, who were in their 70s, had gone hiking on Edmundson trail in Colorado Springs.
When they didn't return by 8.30pm on Friday they were reported missing.
Relatives met El Paso County Search and Rescue officers at the beginning of the trail where they found the couple's car, KKTV reported.
Four hours later their bodies were found, a four mile walk away from where they set off.
Police announced today that they did not expect to make any arrests in connection with the case.
A coroner is expected to make a ruling on the cause and manner of their deaths on Tuesday.
Morty Zand was hiking near the trail on Saturday.
He said he would be wary about returning to the area.
"I don't want my wife to come here alone," he told KRDO.
"She always has to come with me from now on, if we come back."
