A missing man's van was found close to the River Mersey around 24 hours after his disappearance.
Colin Jones left his home, on Venables Drive in Spital, on Thursday night and has not been seen or heard from since.
The 61-year-old went out in his white Volkwagen transporter van which was found on Riverwood Road in Bromborough, just a short distance from the river, on Friday afternoon.
Merseyside Police are appealing for information in regard to Mr Jones' whereabouts and are becoming increasingly concerned for his safety.
Mr Jones is described as a white male, 5ft 10in tall and of a medium build.
He has short, straight dark brown hair and clean shaven.
When he was last seen, Colin was wearing a green waterproof jacket, black jeans and brown shoes.
A spokesperson for Merseyside Police said: "We are appealing for help in tracing a 61-year-old man who is missing from home.
"Officers are becoming increasingly concerned for his whereabouts and anyone who has seen Colin, or anyone fitting his description, is asked to DM @MerPolCC or call 101."
