As the human remains are still yet to be formally identified, Daniel is still considered a missing person at the moment, although his family have been made aware of the progress of the investigation.

It follows a large police cordon placed around woodland by Whittock Square in Stockwood on Sunday (November 14) after officers were called at around 9.50am.

Yesterday (November 16), forensic teams were seen entering the woodland and a number of police vehicles remained on the scene - including one labelled 'Scientific Investigations'.

A spokesperson for Avon and Somerset Police said: “While the human remains recently discovered in woodland near Whittock Square, Stockwood are yet to be formally identified, the family of missing man Daniel Hill have been informed and will be kept updated with the progress of the investigation.

"Our thoughts are with them at this difficult time.

“Enquiries to identify the deceased and establish the circumstances of death continue, and are likely to take some days. We would kindly ask the public to avoid further speculation at this time.”
