Missing hillwalker found dead hours later at Scots beauty spot

A missing hillwalker has been found dead at one of Scotland's most popular beauty spots.

The 33-year-old man was reported missing early on Thursday after he didn't come home from a hill walk.

His car was parked in the car park for Ben Venue in Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park, Stirling.

On Friday we told how police, coastguard and mountain rescue crews were drafted in to find the man in a huge emergency response.

Officers sadly found his body in nearby Ben Aa'n that afternoon.

Police confirmed the tragic news to the Daily Record on Saturday morning.

At this stage, there are no suspicious circumstances surrounding the death.

A report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.

A Police Scotland spokeswoman told the Record: "At around 4.15 pm on Thursday, April 1 the body of a 33-year-old man was discovered on Ben A'an in the Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park.

"He had been reported missing earlier in the day after he didn't return home from a hill-walk.

"His family is aware.

"Officers were assisted by the Force Helicopter, Lomond Mountain Rescue, Killin Mountain Rescue and the Coastguard in the search.

"They were located on Ben Venue later that afternoon.

"All at Lomond MRT would like to offer our most sincere condolences to both friends and family.

"Thanks to colleagues from the Maritime and Coastguard Agency crew, Police Scotland and Killin Mountain Rescue Team for their assistance."
