A man who went missing on his way to the shops was seen at Edinburgh Waverley train station, police have said.
John Carr, 63, left his home in Blackburn to head to Bathgate on Saturday afternoon.
He hasn't been in touch with his family since then, which is completely out of character.
The grandfather left around 12.30pm and it has now been confirmed he was at Waverley around 4pm, where he may have boarded a train.
A friend of John's family also tweeted an appeal for anyone to report any sightings
She said: "My best friend's grandad is missing and we need him home. He was last seen yesterday 12:30 heading to Bathgate on a bus and not been seen since, he has a limp and a walking stick. He’s wearing a blue jumper and black jacket."
Inspector Craig Pirie said: "John said he was heading out to get the bus to Bathgate for shopping but for whatever reason he has not come back.
"He's not been missing before and so to not return home and be be out of touch with family is unusual and concerning for family and police.
"We have been searching the area and checking CCTV as well as liaising with bus and taxi companies. So far there has been one unconfirmed sighting of John late last night at the bus stance at the shopping centre in Livingstone, however, nothing since then.
"We would ask people to keep an eye out for him and if he's seen, or if you know where he may be, then contact officers at Livingston Police Station via 101. Please quote reference number 3252 of 7 March 2020 when calling."
John is 5ft 7in tall with a stocky build, and walks with a stick.
He was wearing a dark grey top, blue v-neck jumper with cream edges, a black jacket and dark shoes.
