Missing girl, 16, last seen on CCTV riding her bike as police launch urgent search

A 16-year-old girl has gone missing as police have released CCTV of her last known sighting in a desperate bid to find her.

Skye, from Sheffield, was last seen on July 26 at 3pm riding a bicycle along Stone Lane into the Shirebrook Valley Nature Reserve.

In the footage, she is wearing a red coat and appears to be wearing a bag over her shoulder.

South Yorkshire Police are asking residents who have CCTV cameras to check their footage from the past couple days to see if she left the nature reserve and where she may have gone.

Inspector Gareth Thomas from Sheffield, who is overseeing the search for Skye, said: “It is now over 48 hours since our last confirmed sighting of Skye on her bicycle going into the nature reserve.

Skye was last seen about 3pm on July 26 (South Yorkshire Police)

“Skye is only 16 and therefore we are incredibly concerned for her welfare.

"We need to find her so we can ensure she is safe and well.

"People living locally may have noticed an increased policing presence around the nature reserve over the last couple of days and this is set to continue while we follow up any and all lines of enquiry available to us.

“Our latest request to residents and businesses based in and around S12 and S13 to check their CCTV footage in case it has captured Skye, or anything else that might help us with our enquiries.

I’d also ask any motorists with dash cameras fitted, who have been travelling through the local area, to go back over your footage from the last couple of days in case there is footage of Skye and you’ve perhaps not realised.

Police released this image as they believe this is the type of bike Skye was riding at the time she was last seen (South Yorkshire Police)

“While the weather is not cold and the evenings are much lighter in the summer, this does not detract from the fact that we have a missing 16-year-old girl whose family is very worried about her.

“Skye – if you’re reading this, please get in touch with someone so we can make sure you’re okay.”

Anyone who may have footage that can help police is asked to email it to enquiries@southyorks.pnn.police.uk. Please quote incident number 951 of 26 July in the subject line.

If you have information about where Skye might be, please contact police via live chat or call 101 – again quoting incident number 951 of 26 July.
