Three arrests as missing girl, 13, is found five days after vanishing from home

Three arrests have been made after a missing teenager was found on her birthday following a frantic five-day search.

Kimberley Henry, 13, disappeared from the Arthur's Hill area of Newcastle upon Tyne on Saturday, "wrapped in a purple blanket".

Northumbria Police have now located the child at a house in Hebburn and arrested two men and a woman.

The three suspects are described as being "well-known to Kimberley". A force spokesperson said Kimberley was safe and well.

The teenager - then aged 12 - was last seen leaving an address in the West End at about 9.30pm on July 13 before getting into a car nearby.

Extensive house-to-house enquiries were carried out to locate Kimberley, who is known to have links across Tyneside.

Superintendent Peter Bent led the search for the missing schoolgirl and tonight thanked everyone who shared the appeal.

Supt Bent said: "We have been carrying out a number of enquiries to locate Kimberley but in the last 24 hours we became very concerned for her welfare.

"We are delighted that we have located her safe and well and a big part of that has been because of the public's support.

"This has been a large-scale investigation and dozens of officers have been working hard to find her so we are glad there has been a positive conclusion."
