A little dog which vanished from the Co Down fishing village of Portavogie has been reunited with her owner after being found near a motorway 60 miles away.
A campaign to make Daisy "too hot to handle" had a happy ending after nearly 50,000 people reacted to the Facebook posts by staff at Portavogie's Mace shop.
And seven days after she was spotted on CCTV inside a black jeep in the forecourt of the Mace garage, staff got a message to say she had been found in Broughshane , outside Ballymena and had been taken to the safety of a local vet.
A spokesperson for the Mace Portavogie , said: "More than 46,000 looked out for wee Daisy in order to get her home .
"The PSNI caught up with the person who said the dog got away after they stopped to let her out on Ballyhalbert beach."
But seven days later Daisy was spotted wandering on a slip road near the M2 at Broughshane , 56 miles away.
Julie Vauls was driving with her husband when they stopped to rescue the dog.
She said: "I'm glad that I was able to get Daisy back to owner. I was taking my own dog to a physiotherapist in Broughshane at the time.
"My husband was driving and he saw the wee dog coming towards us. We stopped and lucky enough she came to me.
"It was hard leaving her at vets but they found owners so it was brilliant the dog's owners were found.
"The wee dog could have been killed if she had gone a few yards further."
