Missing dementia sufferer Alistair Lovie disappeared near disused mine on Scottish island

Police say concern is growing for a missing dementia sufferer who was last seen walking near a disused mine on a Scottish island.

Officers are trying to trace Alistair Lovie, who has been reported missing from the Inverarish area of the Isle of Raasay.

The 73-year-old was last seen walking at a disused mine area north of the village at about 11am on Sunday.

Police Sergeant David Canning said: "We are growing increasingly concerned for Alistair as he suffers from dementia and is likely to have lost his way whilst out walking.

"Alistair is reasonably physically fit but he may be in a confused state. I would urge anyone who was walking in the Rasaay area today or who lives in the area and has seen Alistair today to contact Portree Police on 101."

Ross Taylor was last seen at his home in the Mayfield area around 12pm on Sunday and police say there are concerns for his welfare.

The 30-year-old is described as white, 5ft 9ins tall, of skinny build, with short light-brown hair and was last seen wearing grey jeans, a black jumper and white Converse trainers.

Sergeant Alan King, from Dalkeith Police Station, said: "As part of our enquiries, we're asking anyone who may have seen Ross since this time, or who has possible information on his whereabouts, to contact us.

"If Ross see's this appeal we'd urge him to get in touch with either us or his family, who are very worried about him, as soon as possible and let us know he is ok."
