The estranged husband of a missing Connecticut mom claims the mother of his five children could have staged her disappearance like the main character in the "Gone Girl" book and movie.
Jennifer Dulos, 50, was reported missing around 7:30 p.m. on May 24, and was last seen dropping her children off at school. At the time she went missing, she was embroiled in a bitter two-year divorce and custody battle with her estranged husband, 51-year-old Fotis Dulos.
On Sunday, exactly one month since Jennifer was reported missing, Fotis' lawyer, Norm Pattis, claimed his office unearthed a suspicious mystery novel Jennifer had written that appears reminiscent of Gillian Flynn's "Gone Girl" book and film. In "Gone Girl," a woman fakes her own disappearances to frame her husband for her alleged murder.
"We have been provided a very dark 500-plus page novel Jennifer wrote," a statement read. "We don't know what had become of Jennifer but the 'Gone Girl' hypothesis is very much on our mind."
Pattis did not disclose who gave his office the book nor when Jennifer may have written it.
Pattis' statement also notes an investigation into the $14,000 worth of Jennifer's medical bills that were found shortly before she vanished.
Fotis Dulos and his girlfriend Michelle Troconis, 44, were arrested earlier this month and charged with evidence tampering and hindering prosecution for the case. The couple pleaded not guilty and both are currently out on bail.
