A missing Cockapoo has been reunited with its distressed owners after being sold by a homeless man in a Plymouth pub.
A search was launched to try and find nine-month-old Luna after she vanished in London.
The dog had disappeared in the Royal College Street area of Camden in North West London on August 3, Plymouth Live reports.
An appeal was sounded on social media in a bid to track the dog down, who is mainly black in colour with white spots on her chin and chest.
It was then discovered the dog had been sold in a pub more than 200 miles away in Plymouth.
Plymouth police officer PC Kath Arroll told PlymouthLive: "It would appear that a homeless gent picked her up and she somehow made her way to Plymouth with him.
"Thanks to the online appeal garnering so much attention, a lot of other homeless people were approached in the Camden area and one of them knew the man who had picked Luna up.
"They were then able to track down a mobile phone for the man and he was located in Plymouth.
"In turn he came to Plymouth police station where he explained that he had sold Luna in a pub."
It was discovered that the pup had been sold in Firkin Doghouse in Union Street, with further appeals helping police to track down the buyer who still had Luna.
PC Arroll added: "I took Luna to the vets so she could have a check over.
"She's safe and well and I the family will be coming down to pick her up in the next day or so. I spoke to the daughter of the couple who own Luna and she said they were all over the moon.
"It's nice to be able to give some good news at the moment."
