Feb. 03--A 90-year-old Carpentersville woman who had been reported missing was located Wednesday at a senior care facility in Batavia where she had been taken Tuesday by a social services worker without the knowledge of her family, police said.
Carpentersville police Det. Todd Shaver said the woman, who suffers from dementia, was found in good condition at the care facility late Wednesday morning.
Shaver said the woman's son reported his mother was missing since Tuesday morning from the home they share on Kings Road in Carpentersville. Police said a social worker picked up the woman from her home, and police are looking into why her son was not notified of his mother's whereabouts.
Shaver said he believes the woman spent Tuesday night at the senior care facility.
"She was apparently happy playing bingo (at the facility)," Shaver said.
Shaver didn't know if the woman regularly visited the facility.
"We know that they picked her up but I don't know the circumstances as to why she was taken there," he said.
Carpentersville police requested assistance from the public in their search for the woman in a post on Facebook. Shaver said police received a call this morning from a person who knew the 90-year-old woman was at the facility.
