Missing brothers Michael and James O’Brien found in Midlothian following search

Two brothers who went missing after being dropped off at their primary school in Midlothian have been found safe.

Michael O'Brien (9) and his brother James (6) were dropped off at school in Carnethie Street, Rosewell around 8am on Thursday morning.

However they did not enter the school building, leading to a major search to try and trace them.

Police Scotland said the force's dog unit was called in to help with the search.

Around midday on Thursday, they confirmed the boys had been found safe.

Police Scotland said: "We are pleased to report Michael and Jamie O'Brien, missing from Rosewell this morning, have been traced safe and well.

"We would like to thank members of the public and our partners who shared information and assisted us with inquiries."
