A British walker who vanished after going on a "rough track" hike has been found dead at the bottom of a cliff, reports the Mirror. Gerard Christopher Turner went missing during a trekking holiday with his family in the Italian Alps Alps, according to local media.
Mr Turner is believed to have plunged into a gorge and hit his head, dying instantly. The 56-year-old left the accommodation where he was staying with his family at around 2.30pm on June 30.
He was last heard from around 4.30pm when he told his wife he'd taken a turn down a rough patch of ground and was going to be late getting back. By 6pm, the family were getting worried and tried to call him a number of times. They then contacted emergency services.

A 50-strong team made up of firefighters and mountain rescuers worked overnight trying to find Mr Turner using sophisticated technology to track his mobile signal, reports IlGiorno. From yesterday morning, canine units were deployed, as was a helicopter performing an aerial search with a thermal scanner.
But it wasn't until a drone picked up Mr Turner's body that the massive rescue operation found him. Earlier this week, the pregnant girlfriend of a Brit who went missing in Brazil said she received chilling messages saying her husband had been killed.
Matthew Hemsley, 35, from Abingdon, Oxfordshire, has not been in contact with his family for more than a month, since disappearing in Candeias, Brazil, on May 28. He was last seen out having a meal in a local bar before heading back home after leaving a voicemail for a friend.
So far Brazilian police have not been able to find a motive for a possible attack without any evidence or clues about his location. Matthew lived on a farm after moving to Brazil about seven years ago and was planning to build new property on his land.
It comes after Brit journalist Dom Phillips, 57, and his travelling partner Bruno Pereira, 41, went missing in a remote part of the Amazon in June, with the family informed that their bodies has been found tied to trees in the rainforest.
It took days of searching by the army, navy, police and indigenous residents across the remote region before trace of the two men was found.
