Missed reps a concern for Seahawks rookie wide receiver DK Metcalf

Seattle Seahawks rookie wide receiver DK Metcalf could be watching from the sidelines over the next couple of weeks of the preseason.

On Tuesday, the Seahawks’ second-round selection underwent minor knee surgery, coach Pete Carroll referred to as “minimal.” Carroll remains optimistic the receiver should return to the field sooner than later.

“We’re going to go week to week and see what happens,” Carroll said Wednesday.

While the prognosis is positive for a speedy recovery, all the missed reps with his teammates could be a setback for the young rookie.

“That’s the biggest concern, he just doesn’t get enough snaps in preseason that he could have benefited from,” Carroll explained. “He’s shown us that he can play, and he can do the stuff we need him to do. We don’t have any question about that.

“It’s just the quality of reps and repetitions and stuff like that – we won’t be able to benefit from that.”

Metcalf has appeared in just one of Seattle’s two games this summer, the Seahawks’ debut at home against the Broncos.
