Missed parcel delivery cards designed to look from Royal Mail is scam, warns Action Fraud

Fraud experts have issued a warning over missed parcel delivery cards designed to look like they are from Royal Mail, but which are actually a scam.

Action Fraud, the UK's national fraud and cyber crime reporting centre advised people to carefully check the "Something for you" cards which are posted through letterboxes when a delivery cannot be made.

The fraudulent cards lack the Royal Mail logo but are otherwise very similar to the delivery company's own cards, Action Fraud said.

The cards urge recipients to call a 0208 number, which is not registered to Royal Mail and goes straight to an automated message asking for details and a consignment number.

A Royal Mail spokesperson said: "The Royal Mail security team is looking into this incident as a matter of urgency. Customers should check delivery cards very carefully to ensure they are genuine, and remain vigilant. Although this card is similar to one of our Something For You cards, the Royal Mail logo is crucially missing.

"Customers should also consider whether they are expecting a delivery from the company named on the card."

Action Fraud has urged all residents not to call the number provided if in doubt and to get in touch with the centre by using its online fraud reporting tool or calling 0300 123 2040.
