Miss Selfridge, Burton and Dorothy Perkins concessions emptied in Mansfield Tesco supermarket

Half the upper floor of a large Tesco supermarket in Nottinghamshire is now empty following the sale of a number of major fashion retailers.

The store, in Oak Tree, Mansfield, has cleared one side of its upstairs department completely as Arcadia Group branches closed its branches for good.

Concessions including Burton, Miss Selfridge, Dorothy Perkins, Evans and Wallis have all been based inside the supermarket for a number of years after a deal was struck with Tesco.

However, following Arcadia's administration and eventual sales at the start of this year, all of the branches have closed.

This comes alongside the closure of other major high street names, including Topshop, Topman and Debenhams.

Despite the closure of physical stores, all brands will still be available online after being purchased by online retailers Asos and Boohoo.

Topman, Topshop and Miss Selfridge products are now available exclusively online on Asos, while Boohoo bought the remainder of the brands.

Speaking to Nottinghamshire Live last month, a retail expert in the county said he didn't believe the closure of the Tesco-based concessions will have an impact on the supermarket giant.

Independent analyst Nelson Blackley said: "In the past few years, the rollout of these Arcadia Group concessions in larger Tesco stores has not appeared to have progressed at the speed or to the scale originally envisaged.

"With the recent purchase of these Arcadia brands by Boohoo and Asos, their online presence will be beefed up considerably as part of multi-brand platforms, and so I don’t see their disappearance from a few large Tesco stores making any significant difference overall."

The closure of the brands also means major Nottinghamshire stores have been emptied of all their stock.

This includes the Topshop, Topman and Burton stores inside Mansfield's Four Seasons Shopping Centre, the Topshop and Topman stores in the Victoria Centre, and most recently the Burton and Dorothy Perkins stores in Old Market Square.
