Euro 2020 is over and for England, despite all their efforts, it's the same old story.
A first appearance in a final for 55 years, but the pain of yet another near miss continues.
It took penalties to separate England and Italy in Sunday's final after a 1-1 draw following 120 minutes of action.
Bukayo Saka was the unlucky one to miss the crucial spot kick, after both Marcus Rashford and Jadon Sancho had also failed to find the net.
But England had a number of standout players in their best performance at a tournament in more than five decades.
Here Mirror Football reporters have taken their picks for their Euro 2020 team of the tournament.
