Miriam O'Callaghan says Dingle is her 'favourite place on earth' as she enjoys Kerry staycation

RTE presenter Miriam O'Callaghan has been enjoying a staycation in Co Kerry and sharing some snaps of the beautiful landscape.

She has been enjoying the sights and sounds of the Kingdom as she holidays in Dingle.

Posting on Twitter, Miriam revealed she has family connections to Kerry as her father hails from there.

She thrilled her followers with a selection of snaps of Fungi the Dingle Dolphin, stunning views of the bay and the family dog Chance frolicking on the beach.

The Prime Time host wrote: "No wonder they call it the Kingdom - my wonderful dad’s county.

"In Dingle on holiday right now, my favourite place on earth and our dog Chance agrees. The summer of staycations. Fungie also never lets us down.

"Thanks to @DingleSkellig for the view and to @JessMcGurk for the great photos.

In June, Miriam revealed she was enjoying spending lockdown with her husband Steve Carson and five of her eight kids but was having to do far more cooking than normal.

She said: "I would feed the boys and five seconds later they'd be starving again.

"When this is all over, hopefully I won't be cooking as much, but it has been lovely to be here with them more.

"Normally, I would drop some of them to school and then go to a Prime Time meeting and then spend a lot of time in work, but not being able to do that has made me rethink things and I have enjoyed being more present."

She also found a new hobby to pass the time- baking.

She told the Sunday Independent: "I've also started making my mother's brown bread and soda bread. She has always given it to me, so I always thought 'Sure I don't need to make my own'.

"Then suddenly I couldn't get the bread from her, and I had the time, so I decided 'OK, I need to learn to make this.' "
