Miriam Margolyes and Alan Cumming rediscover Scots roots in new Channel 4 show

Call the Midwife star Miriam Margolyes and actor Alan Cumming will come together to rediscover their Scottish roots in a brand new Channel 4 show.

Miriam and Alan: Lost in Scotland will air next week, with the iconic duo kicking off their journey in Glasgow, where Margolyes’ Jewish family settled.

After visiting the country's biggest city, Alan and Miriam hopped in their campervan and headed north for a journey of laughs with some emotional moments thrown in for good measure.

In the hilarious trailer, Miriam says: "Scotland is my inheritance…we’re both lucky to have it in our lives!"

The pair toured Scotland (Channel 4)

The three part series is definitely on our watch list.

In one part of the show, Cumming, who was born in Scotland, takes Margolyes to Carnoustie, the place he grew up with his abusive father.

After a trip to Cawdor Castle, the GoldenEye actor also unveils that there is a possibility that he is related to nobility.

The pair delve into Scottish history and take a look at personalised tartan, Gaelic singing and also take a DNA test.

Cumming revealed that they ended up doing the show after they appeared on the Graham Norton Show together.

He said: "The reason they’ve asked me to do this is that we went on Graham Norton… Miriam was there, showing her knickers, and I was like, ‘No Miriam, no!’ I slapped her down a couple of times when she was trying to get a bit saucy."

Miriam and Alan: Lost in Scotland airs on Tuesday 16th November at 9:15pm on Channel 4.
