Miraculous escape as Range Rover leaves the road and smashes into optician's

A Range Rover mounted the kerb and smashed into an optician's in Rochdale tonight.

Police say no-one was seriously hurt following the drama on Entwisle Road in Rochdale.

The drama happened shortly before 4.53pm today (Sunday) when the Range Rover smashed into Clinic 4 Eyes on Entwisle Road near its junction with Bellfield Road.

Police, paramedics and firefighters were called to the scene.

Two people on board the Range Rover were taken to hospital although they were not seriously hurt.

The road was closed and building inspectors were called to assess the damage.

Police say no-one was seriously hurt (M.E.N.)

A spokesman for Greater Manchester Police said: "Police were called at 4.53pm to reports of a road traffic collission. A vehicle had collided with a building. There were no serious or life-threatening injuries at this stage."

He went on that building inspectors had been summoned to examine the property.

The road was closed between Bellfield Road and Oswald Street while the emergency services were at the scene. The road remained closed at 8.45pm.
