Miracle escape for Edinburgh residents after horror fire rips through tenement block

Residents at an Edinburgh tenement building miraculously escaped a horror blaze in the early hours of Sunday morning.

Occupants of the four storey flat block were evacuated following a huge fire in one of the second floor homes at around 4.30am.

Eight fire engines raced to the scene to fight the flames and still remain in attendance as work continues to secure the building.

In a miracle escape, no one was injured in the devastating blaze that ripped through the building.

Photographs from the scene show the charred remains of the building on Bailie Terrace.

Earlier in the day, images showed large flames leaping above the roof of the block.

The severity of the damage can now been seen as the building stands with it's roof missing.

The walls of the building have been left blackened and the third and fourth floor flats look to be completely destroyed.

The area around the flats has also been cordoned off with red tape and metal fencing.
