Miracle as boy, 4, survives fall off 70ft cliff with only cuts and grazes

A four-year-old boy who fell 70ft off the edge of a cliff has survived with barely any injuries.

The boy was hiking with him family around Princess Arch, in Kentucky, the US, on October 15 when he fell.

He lost his footing and dropped 70ft, the equivalent of a five-storey building.

But despite also crashing into ledges on his fall, he survived the accident with minimal injuries.

On his descent, he also tumbled down a 30ft sheer drop as his panicked dad sprinted after him, understandably fearing the worst.

His dad then carried the boy down to the ground to safety and crossed the Red River with his son.

The pair were met with Wolfe County Search and Rescue Team (WCSART) at a nearby highway.

The rescue team were shocked by how the child had escaped death with minimal injuries.

Pictures show how he only sustained a few cuts and grazes in the incident and was otherwise fine.

A spokesperson for WCSART said: "The physical condition of the boy after the severity of his accident is nothing short of a miracle.

"It is fair to say he was significantly covered in scrapes and bruises, but this is nothing compared to what could have been.

"When we arrived, he was very talkative, and very interested in super heroes.

"At that moment it was immediately obvious to everyone around that the only super hero present was him."

Princess Arch is a natural arch rock formation that sits inside a forest.

Falling from cliffs is the leading cause of serious injury and death when hiking in Red River Gorge where the arch is located.
