Minute's silence planned in memory of hero Edinburgh dad who died in horror bike crash

Locals are to come together for a minute's silence in memory of a hero Edinburgh dad who was tragically killed in a horror crash.

James Harrison, 36, died following the collision involving his bike and a van on Mount Vernon Road shortly before 9am on Thursday 25 June.

Tributes flooded in for the "much loved" nurse and father-of-two, with NHS Lothian remembering a "well respected" colleague who had volunteered in the intensive care unit during the coronavirus pandemic.

James was also recognised as an accomplished athlete and official for Scottish Athletics who said he was "someone who put far more into the sport than he took out" and "will be sorely missed by all".

A minute's silence is now planned to go ahead in his memory at the site where he lost his life, at the junction of Mount Vernon Road and Gilmerton Road, this Thursday 2 July at 8:45am.

People have been invited to "come to respectfully observe with appropriate social distancing a minute’s silence for the tragic passing of much loved father, husband and volunteer ICU nurse James Harrison".
