With Gardner Minshew II winning his fourth Rookie of the Week award Friday, it appears Minshew Mania doesn’t have plans to slow down. Like any organization would, the Jag sand NFL are riding the wave, too, and plan to hand out 35,000 mustaches and 10 Minshew Jerseys in their upcoming game with the New Orleans Saints.
With Who Dat Nation having a strong fanbase that travels well, Sunday’s game is a great time to rally Jags fans and show just how much of a force Minshew Mania is. The movement was certainly one the nation couldn’t help but notice in the Jags’ last home game against the Tennessee Titans for “Thursday Night football,” however, Minshew Mania was in it’s infancy and the fanbase was still trying to decipher what Minshew brought to the table. Now, the movement is much stronger and fans have had time to witness Minshew’s poise and playmaking abilities on the field.
Since his victory over the Titans, Minshew has had eye-opening showings against the Denver Broncos and Carolina Panthers, both of which were on the road. He was able to go 1-1 in the process, bringing the Jags from behind at Empower Field at Mile High and passing for a career-high against the Panthers (who had the No. 1 passing defense) at Bank of America Stadium. Considering this, there is no reason to believe Minshew can’t beat the Saints as he’ll come into the game 110-of-165 (66.7 percent) for 1,279 passing yards, nine touchdowns and an interception.
