Minor leaguer walks face first into a dugout pole while arguing with umpires

Matt Whatley is a catcher for the Class-A Hickory Crawdads (Texas Rangers affiliate) with a couple years of experience in the lower levels of the Rangers system and the Arizona Fall League.

Still, he’s already managed to land himself on an all-time blooper reel.

During a weekend game against the Greenville Drive (Red Sox affiliate), Whatley found himself livid over balls-and-strikes calls from the home plate umpire. Whatley was ejected from the game, but he had some colorful words for the umpiring crew as he walked in the dugout.

There was just one problem: Whatley wasn’t looking where he was going at all.

Ouch. Gotta keep that head on a swivel.

There’s adding insult to injury, and then there’s, well, walking face first into a pole.

Whatley appeared to be OK after hitting his face against the pole, but you can see that the embarrassment brought a quick end to his argument.
