Minor girl sexually assaulted inside Varanasi school campus

VARANASI: A minor girl was allegedly sexually assaulted by a sweeper in a private school in Lahartara locality of Sigra police station area on Thursday.

Inspector Sigra Baijnath Singh said that the 23-year-old sweeper Sinku has been arrested after lodging of an FIR for sexually assaulting the minor girl in the school on the complaint of her parents. Police had checked the CCTV footage of school before initiating action against Sinku, he said.

The girl had gone to the toilet of a reputed school in Lehartara area under the limit of Sigra police station on Friday morning when Sinku sexually assaulted her, said police adding, the shocked girl somehow become free from his clutches and informed her family about it on returning home.

(The victim's identity has not been revealed to protect her privacy as per Supreme Court directives on cases related to sexual assault)
