Minor, four others held for sextortion in West Bengal

KOLKATA: The cyber cell of Kolkata Police has apprehended five persons - all of them are from Bihar - from the Shapoorji Complex at Rajarhat for allegedly running a sextortion racket on Thursday.

Of the accused, one is a minor. The rest, Pankaj Kumar, Avinash Kumar, Rohit Kumar and Prince Raj of Vaishali, were aged between 26 and 19 years.

Cops raided the complex in the wee hours of Thursday and nabbed the accused. Cops said that while arrests for alleged sextortion had taken place in the past, this is for the first time an organised gang landed in the police net. Cops said the accused used to target senior citizens.

"Apart from the traditional method, the accused would call the victims, posing as the detective department officers of Kolkata Police," said an officer.
