Mino Raiola - the agent of Paul Pogba - has ruled out the possibility of the Manchester United midfielder sealing a move to the Bundesliga next summer.
Pogba, who is currently sidelined with a thigh injury, is out-of-contract at Old Trafford at the end of the season and he is not expected to commit his future to the club.
The Frenchman, who returned to United from Juventus in the summer of 2016, has always maintained the stance that he will make a decision on his future at the end of the campaign, but it is understood to be incredibly unlikely that he will choose to sign a new deal at Old Trafford.
In recent weeks and months, Pogba has been linked with a whole host of big-name clubs across Europe, including former side Juventus, Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain, with it claimed that joining Madrid would be his preference
However, German clubs, such as Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund, have not been linked with moves for Pogba, with it now becoming clearer why that is.
Raiola has confirmed that it will not be "possible" for the midfielder to join a German club because they would not be able to match his salary.
Raiola told Sport1 : "That is not possible because the German mentality is different. They cannot and do not want to pay these high salaries.
"The only German club that could do that is Bayern Munich. But even they can't get to Paul's salary.
"Germans are at the bottom of the international salary pyramid."
In Germany, despite their strict financial outlook on football, some of the best players in the world apply their trade, such as Robert Lewandowski, Erling Haaland and Joshua Kimmich.
However, Pogba is on a much higher salary than them, meaning a move to the Bundesliga is not possible. Despite that, Raiola is not concerned.
Asked if it was a shame for the Bundesliga not to be able to lure someone of Pogba's credibility to the league, Raiola added: "I don't think so. As a result, German football is very healthy.
"You are doing well. The 50 + 1 rule is sacred to Germans. You don't take any chances and I think that's a good thing."
Meanwhile, United interim manager Ralf Rangnick has confirmed that he has spoken to Pogba over the phone and plans to meet him for the very first time in person on Sunday.
