Mino Raiola hints at transfer regret over Erling Haaland amid Manchester United interest

Mino Raiola has suggested he may have made a mistake over Erling Haaland's future by not pushing him to an even bigger club when he joined Borussia Dortmund.

Manchester United were very keen to take Haaland to Old Trafford in January 2020 when it was clear the Norwegian would depart RB Salzburg, but did not agree a number of add-ons with the player's agent, Raiola, and the player's move to Dortmund was actually confirmed in December 2019.

Haaland has plundered goals at Dortmund — at a rate of virtually one per game — to prompt more interest from United and other clubs around Europe. The MEN understands Haaland is now United's priority striker target again.

And 'super agent' Raiola was asked in an interview with The Athletic about Haaland's next move, suggesting the 20-year-old has proven his doubters wrong and could already be playing at a bigger club than Dortmund.

He would not be pressed on whether United, Manchester City, or any other club is at the front of the queue for the Norway international's signature, but spoke openly about his player.

“With Haaland, everybody was wrong," said Raiola. "He did things much quicker than everybody imagined.

"Haaland is in front of his own development. He is ahead of his own schedule. Maybe I was too careful when I said, ‘Oh no, let’s move to Dortmund instead of I-don’t-know-where’.

“This boy — I’m 100 per cent convinced and everybody’s convinced — can move to any club, wherever he wants, already on this level. And he could have done that last year.

"But maybe last year there were still teams (saying), ‘Oh, he was in Red Bull, can he do it in another club?’. He is quicker than his own prediction. So yeah, Haaland is the talk of the town.”
