Mino Raiola confirms which club Manchester United target Matthijs de Ligt wants to join

Mino Raiola has confirmed his client Matthijs de Ligt wants to join Juventus this summer.

The 19-year-old Ajax captain has agreed personal terms with the Italian champions ahead of a prospective move to Turin.

De Ligt is in demand this summer following his impressive season in Amsterdam, with Juve, Barcelona, PSG and Manchester United all interested in the young defender.

“Matthijs has agreed personal terms with Juve," Raiola told Dutch outlet De Telegraaf.

“We’re waiting for them to complete the agreement with Ajax soon."

Asked if De Ligt could attempt to force his way out of Ajax if an amicable exit proves difficult, Raiola responded: “An arbitration case is out of the question for us, I advised Matthijs [on this], because it does not suit his style.

“The player only hopes that Juventus and Ajax will show the will to get out and that the deal is completed quickly.”

United turned down the chance to sign De Ligt earlier in his career but have been heavily linked with him this summer.

However, the M.E.N understands United never had realistic ambitions of landing De Ligt in the face of interest from several elite European clubs.

It appeared for much of the year as though the Netherlands international would end up joining Barcelona this summer but they now appear to be out of the picture.

Barcelona manager Ernesto Valverde already has Gerard Pique, Samuel Umtiti and Clement Lenglet available to him at the Nou Camp and Juve's backline is in need of reinforcements following Andrea Bargazli's retirement.
