Minnesota Scores Must-See Goal in Frozen Four After Between-The-Legs Pass

The Frozen Four showdown between Minnesota and Boston University on Thursday night produced a goal for the ages.

The Golden Gophers, the top seed in the tournament, were on the power play with the game tied 1–1 in the first period. Just seconds into having the man advantage, Minnesota forward Aaron Huglen made an insane no-look pass between his legs from the near post that landed perfectly on the stick of Rhett Pitlick. The forward buried the puck past Terrier netminder Drew Commesso into the wide open net.

Huglen’s ninth assist of the season will be one Gopher fans will never forget.

Minnesota is looking to earn a spot in the NCAA championship game after losing to Minnesota State 5–1 last season in the Frozen Four.

Boston University, who was unseeded entering the tournament, upset both Western Michigan 5–1 in the first round and Cornell 2–1 in the regional finals to earn the matchup with the Gophers.

The Terriers responded in the second period, tying the game at 2–2 midway through on a power play goal by Jay O’Brien.

The winner of today’s matchup will face the winner of the No. 2 Quinnipiac vs. No. 3 Michigan tilt.
