Minnesota DE Danielle Hunter listed as Vikings biggest salary cap bargain

If Myles Garrett’s five-year, $125-million extension is any indication, the Vikings are getting plenty of value out of Danielle Hunter.

That’s because Hunter is under contract for five years and $72 million. The defensive end has tallied 14.5 sacks for two consecutive seasons. He also became the youngest NFL player to reach 50 career sacks.

CBS Sports thinks of all the players the Vikings have under contract, the team’s biggest bargain is Hunter. Here’s what the outlet said about the defensive end:

“The fact is, Hunter remains one of the most underrated pass rushers, if not players, in the entire NFL. Even if we pretend he didn’t convert his salary to bonus money this offseason and just called his 2020 cap hit $17M, he’d still be at a reasonable rate. This man has 54.5 sacks in five seasons, including 29 in the last two years, is still just 25 years old and hasn’t missed a game in four years. If anyone deserves an average annual salary of more than $20M, it’s him. And that’s not even mentioning, from a Vikings perspective, he’s the only actual proven threat in Minnesota’s pass rush rotation.”

The outlet ranked Dalvin Cook as the second biggest bargain. Cook will reportedly hold out until he receives a reasonable deal.
