Minka Kelly will return to 'back-up' career if Hollywood roles dry up

Minka Kelly would return to her job in a hospital if her acting roles dried up

Minka Kelly will return to her "back-up" career as a scrub technician if her roles in Hollywood dry up.

The actress used to work in a hospital as a surgical technologist - assisting surgeons in operating rooms - and Minka is adamant she will happily go back to the job if she fails to win any more acting roles.

During an appearance on TV show 'Today with Jenna and Friends', Minka explained: "I’ve thought that [Hollywood may be over for me after] every job that finishes.

"And then if any amount of time passes [between roles], you’re like: ‘Okay, this is it. I had a good run. And that’s okay, everything’s okay. I have my back-up. I can be a scrub tech again'."

Minka admitted she thinks about going back to her hospital job "all the time", adding: "It’s a thing that gives [me] a bit of confidence."

She went on to say: "You know this [acting] isn’t the whole world ... So the rejection that you get being an actor is sort of balanced out for me and you can go: ‘But I’m good at this. I know I’m good at this'.

"I loved it [being a scrub technician] so much. It’s really good to feel like you’re good at something."

Mika's latest acting role is in new Netflix Western series 'Ransom Canyon' and during her appearance on the TV show, she revealed her Imagine Dragons star boyfriend Dan Reynolds helped her learn to play piano for the part.

She explained: "He helped me a lot. Because at home he’d help me translate - I can’t read music - so he would show me how it’s done. ...

"[I also] had a piano teacher in Albuquerque so I would just play [the songs] over and over and over again."

Minka insisted she can still play the songs she "had to learn for the show".

She previously admitted Dab won a small part in the show after coming to visit her on set. She told PEOPLE: "He came to visit and everyone, all the producers and writers, just naturally fell in love with him, like you do. It's easy to love Dan.

"They just asked one day, 'Do you think he'd play this character?' And I just was like: 'Let me ask him'. And he was such a good sport and down to play."
