The Education Ministry has set up a committee to look into Saturday's crash of a small training plane owned by Thalang Technical College in Phuket, which left two dead and two others injured.
The panel will assess the safety standards of the aircraft engineering programme to mitigate the risk to students, said Suthep Chitayawong, secretary-general of the Vocational Education Commission.
Life insurance is a crucial element of a study programme like this which the college will be required to purchase for all students, said Mr Suthep.
Phuket provincial governor Noraphat Plodthong said the province, too, will discuss measures to ensure safety standards are met at Thalang technical college, which produces graduates to serve in the aviation industry.
In the future, Phuket has a plan to further develop its technical and vocational education to better serve both the aviation and merchant marine industries to catch up with the province's economic growth and growth in its tourism industry, he said.
According to the governor, the crash was mainly attributed to bad weather conditions.
As for the two students injured in Saturday's crash, doctors at Vachira Phuket Hospital, where they are being treated, said Adel Samae, a male student on board the crashed Jabiru 450 plane, remains in a deep coma.
He suffered several broken bones and severe head injuries during the crash, said Dr Wirasak Lothongkham, deputy director of the hospital.
Orawan Chindarat, the other student on board the plane, broke a number of bones but suffered no tangible brain trauma.
She is conscious and lucid, but needs to stay in the hospital for about a month during rehabilitation.
