Families will need to have their wits about them later this month when the International Ministry of Play comes to town.
And that means "IMP" agents will be out and about in Newcastle to test just how playful Geordies really are.
On the weekend of August 31 and September 1, pop-up discos and fairground games will signal the arrival of Playtime, which is being hosted by local theatre companies Alphabetti and Unfolding Theatre as well as business district improvement company NE1.
Between 10.30am and 3.30pm on both days, the agents will be inviting people to take part in various playful and silly challenges.
To take up the challenge, families can book with one of the agents who will be positioned on Northumberland Street and Blackett Street.
Each hour, up to four families - with a maximum of five members in each - will be issued a Play Passport on completion of a first challenge as well as a map.
Players will then have to complete a series of other challenges "hidden" across the city by following instructions on how to locate, for instance, the likes of impromptu games.
They then can hand in their completed Play Passport to one of the agents who will be making their presence known around the city.
The agents, also known as "fun scientists", also will be bringing along extras such as marbles and megaphones to encourage people's participation in activities including taking a silly selfie or joining a dance routine.
