Ministers V. Srinivas Goud, G. Kamalakar and T. Srinivas Yadav laid foundation stones for the construction of Meru and Medara Atmagaurava Bhavans at Uppal Bhagayath here on Sunday.
Local legislator B. Subhash Reddy, State Backward Classes Commission chairman V. Krishnamohan Rao, Meru Sangham chairman K. Bhaskar Rao, Medara Sangham president Venkatramulu and several others participated in the event.
The Ministers said that the State Government had sanctioned one acre each land to the two BC communities for construction of their Atmagaurava Bhavan at Uppal Bhagayath and also sanctioned ₹1 crore each for the construction of the two bhavans. In all, 83 acres land was allotted to 41 BC communities and government also sanctioned ₹90 crore for the construction of buildings.
They stated that all associations and unions of the two communities had formed into one association each for taking forward the construction of Atmagaurava Bhavans by a Trust formed for the purpose.
Stating that there were only 16 residential schools for BC communities before formation of Telangana, they said that Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao had opened 265 new residential schools to increase their intake capacity from 10,000 in the past to 1.36 lakh now.
