Minister insists the UK is ‘safe’ against Iran’s long-range missiles

  • Labour housing secretary Steve Reed has insisted the UK is safe despite warnings about Iran's long-range missile capabilities.
  • Iran launched two ballistic missiles towards the British-US military base at Diego Garcia; one was intercepted by a US warship, and the other failed.

  • Israel's Defence Forces warned that Iran's new long-range missiles, capable of travelling 4,000km, pose a threat to European cities like London, Paris, and Berlin.
  • Reed said that the UK has robust defensive systems and will protect British interests without being drawn into the conflict.
