Minimum distance of autos to be retained

The minimum distance to be covered under the revised minimum fare of the autorickshaws would be fixed at 1.5 km, said the office of Transport Minister Antony Raju.

The State government had recently increased the minimum charge of auto to ₹30 from the existing ₹25. When the fare was revised, the State had also increased the minimum distance to be covered under the new fare slab to 2 km from 1.5 km. However, the trade unions have informed the Transport department that they lost the benefit of the revision with the State increasing the minimum distance from 1.5 km to 2 km. This issue would be addressed when a government order to this effect is issued.
