Milo dropped in to kick-off the festive season and will be back on December 23 to say hello before Santa visits.

Roz from the nursing home said: “Milo’s owner reached out to us and offered to have him visit our residents and we thought what a perfect activity this would be.

“Milo is a therapy pony, he is a miniature Shetland pony who stands at just 2.5 feet tall.

“At this time of year he makes Christmas visits bells and all! So, of course, we could not wait to book him in and get him mingling with our ladies and gents.

“At Heatherfield we passionately promote meaningful activity and we particularly enjoy supporting our own community where possible.

“A miniature Shetland isn’t something many people have seen in their life.

“Animal therapy also brings a wave of benefits. It improves mood, decreases anxiety, increases confidence and offers a sense of comfort to those who engage.”
