Mini hydropower project to be handed over to tribals

Tribal Welfare Department Director Vadrevu Chinna Veerabhadrudu on Tuesday said that the State government would soon hand over the 1.2 megawatt mini hydro power project to the four tribal habitations in the Rampachodavaram Agency.

The State government had recently commissioned the hydro power project built at a cost of ₹6 crore for the benefit of the group of tribal habitations in Bheemudu Pakala Panchayat in Addateegala Mandal in East Godavari Agency.

On Tuesday, Mr. Veerabhadrudu and Rampachodavaram Integrated Tribal Development Agency Project Officer C.V. Praveen Adithya inspected the hydro power project along with the tribal people of Bheemudu Pakalu, Chinna Addateegalu, Kothapakalu and Pinjari Konda.

“The AP Power Generation Corporation will monitor the hydropower project for one year. Later, the project will be handed over to the four tribal habitations. The tribal people will also be given training in operation of the power project”, said Mr. Veerabhadrudu. He said that the State was preparing to set up more mini hydropower projects in the Agency.
