Mini-heatwave hope for Ireland as Met Eireann forecasts three areas to hit 23C on hottest day of the year

The good weather looks set to continue for the duration of next week, with Met Eireann predicting the hottest day of the year so far to fall on Wednesday.

The midlands, east and south, look set to get the best of the sunny spells and high temperatures.

Both Tuesday and Wednesday are shaping up to bring bright sunny spells in the east and south, with some scattered showers developing in the afternoon.

As outdoor dining reopens next week, we take a look at what we can expect from the weather:

Tuesday, June 8

Bright sunny spells are expected in the east and south, with scattered showers predicted in some parts in the afternoon.

It will be generally cloudier in Connacht, Ulster and along the west Munster coast.

Occasional rain and drizzles are expected. However, it will remain relatively warm, with temperatures between 15 to 21 degrees.

Wednesday, June 9

With maximum temperatures of 17 to 23 degrees, Wednesday is marked to be the hottest day of the year so far.

Temperatures will be at their highest in the midlands, east and south, with light southwesterly winds.

Thursday and Friday, June 10/11

Good news and bad news expected towards the end of the week as the weather will become slightly more unsettled with further showers on Thursday and Friday.

The good news is the weather looks as though it will settle down next weekend with a good deal of warm, dry weather and light winds.
