Mini 'castle' near the beach with a surprise feature for £270,000

If you’ve always dreamt about living in a castle but have the budget for a three bed semi then the turrets, battlements and drawbridge are just a dream.

Back in reality surely there isn’t a historic castle for sale in Wales that can make the dream come true?

No, there isn’t.

But what is hiding in a rural location and under three miles to the nearest beach is a highly unusual detached property that can offer you the chance to be king or queen of your own castle. You won't even have to fight anyone at the drawbridge to get it.

It might not be able to match the size and history of nearby Gwrych Castle, the location of this year's ITV show I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here!, but for anyone looking for a property that is the definition of quirky this ‘mini castle’ is a perfect.

There’s no slats for firing your arrows just normal windows, there’s no drawbridge or portcullis just an expected front door and there’s also no stone walls constructed centuries ago - just a standard pebble dash facade.

But there are battlements - and you don’t often see them everyday on a standard three bed detached home, if ever.

And a unique aspect of the home is hiding a special extra bonus too, a large sun terrace on the first floor amongst the battlements.

A highly special spot not just to check for approaching armies, but also a place to relax and chill out and eat al-fresco all day long while enjoying the surrounding rural views.

Imagine waking up and tumbling out of bed straight out onto your own battlements to watch the sun rise, or enjoying a glass of something cold on a summer evening watching the stars come out.

Located near the end of a dead-end country lane, this castle enjoys a semi-rural existence, nestled within the beautiful countryside on the outskirts of the village of Llysfaen.

But there’ll be no need to invade any neighbouring counties or countries for food, education and leisure as the castle resides on the outskirts of the village of Llysfaen and some of the beaches of the county of Conwy are just a few miles away.

Colwyn Bay is just over two and a half miles away and Abergele less than four miles.

The property itself is a spacious home, maybe not the size of a castle but a house that has been designed for modern not medieval living.

The large kitchen diner is a sociable space that has a built-in breakfast bar for directly watching the chef cook up something special. No need for an open fire and roasting spit, this kitchen can accommodate all modern appliances.

There's a bonus and eye-catching coal burning stove ticked away within a brick built surround to add extra and more traditional cooking options.

The dining area flows out into a substantial conservatory that is a special spot to admire the garden and the rural views when bad weather means the battlements are off-limits.

In this bonus room there's space to relax and also room for a full-size dining table.

For a cosy space to relax, read or revel in your favourite television programme there's a separate lounge that has a log burner as the central feature.

On this ground floor there is also one of the bedrooms that has a set of French doors to the garden and a surprise ensuite tucked away too.

Imagine breakfast in bed, the kitchen is next door, on a sunny summer morning with the doors flung open enticing a gentle breeze to waft in. Sounds like bliss.

The ground floor also has a handy and good-sized utility room that also has access to the outside space.

Up the stairs and there are two double bedrooms to discover either side of the central family bathroom.

One of these bedrooms has access to the secret battlement terrace, surly the most surprising and delightful bonus feature any house in the area could offer a new King or Queen of this Conwy castle.

The rear garden is as special as the house, with a Mediterranean style patio tucked under the battlements that opens out on to lawn that then opens out onto expansive, beautiful countryside views.

At the end of the garden there's a BBQ hut with adjoining deck looking out onto the views, surely a fabulous place to sit in a deckchair with a burger and watch the wildlife world go by or enjoy the sunset over a juicy hot dog!

Next to the BBQ is a summerhouse, very useful if the weather starts to interrupt the BBQ or maybe even a space to transform into a home working office space.

The quirky mini castle just outside Colwyn Bay is for sale for £269,500 but hurry before someone else captures it. Go to www.purplebricks.co.uk to find out more.
